ZARAGOZA

Green hydrogen production plant of 25 MW

The H2V Zaragoza project involves the construction of an industrial-scale green hydrogen production, storage, and distribution plant within the municipality of Zaragoza.

It has been declared a Project of Autonomous Interest due to its economic impact and was recognized as a priority project for the economic development of the Autonomous Community of Aragón in September 2025.

For its operation, it will use electricity from a newly built 40 MWp solar photovoltaic plant, owned by ACCIONA Energía and located on a plot adjacent to the electrolyzer.

A FUTURO

The facility will have an electrolysis capacity of up to 25 MW, with a maximum effective production of 3,727 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year. For its operation, it will use electricity from a newly built 40 MWp solar photovoltaic plant, owned by ACCIONA Energía and located on a plot adjacent to the electrolyzer. This supply will be complemented by electricity from the grid through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with renewable origin certificates.

JOBS

The total associated investment amounts to €59 million and includes the creation of more than 2,089 direct jobs across the construction and operation phases, with a strong focus on local employment.

The solar park will be located on an adjacent plot and will be directly connected to the hydrogen plant’s own substation, thereby contributing to:

  • Promoting the decarbonization of mobility and industry, avoiding the emission of up to 31,372 tonnes of CO₂ per year and generating energy savings of 11.6 ktoe.
  • Boosting the local economy by offering development opportunities to local and regional suppliers and supporting the deployment of new infrastructure linked to green hydrogen.
  • Creating up to 2,089 direct jobs during the construction and operation phases, with priority given to local employment.

H2V Zaragoza will integrate the entire green hydrogen value chain: renewable generation, production, storage, compression, and dispensing. Its strategic location positions the project as a key hub for the deployment of hydrogen in regional logistics, transport, and industry.
