It is 50 percent owned by ACCIONA Energía, a global leader in renewable energy, and Plug Power, a leading provider of turnkey hydrogen solutions for the global green hydrogen economy, including electrolyzers, fuel cells, forklifts and liquefaction.
ACCIONAPLUG combines Plug Power’s state-of-the-art hydrogen electrolyzer technology and ACCIONA Energía's leading position in the distribution of 100% renewable energy in Spain and Portugal to develop green hydrogen projects in these countries.
Spain and Portugal are poised to play a leading role in the European economy's path towards decarbonization, leveraging the competitive advantage of their vast renewable resources. The Spanish Government presented a hydrogen roadmap in October 2020 and Portugal approved its own roadmap in August 2020. Both countries have updated their roadmaps and national Energy and Climate plans in the last year, with even more ambitious country objectives.
ACCIONAPLUG develops, constructs, operates, markets and distributes green hydrogen. The company plans to achieve a substantial market share of the green hydrogen business in Spain and Portugal by 2030, producing more than 100 tons per day.

Green hydrogen production plant of 25 MW

Located in Navarra (Spain), it will produce 3,880 tons of renewable-origin hydrogen annually and is set to start operating by the end of 2024.
